As part of the Chepstow Society's longstanding commitment to ensuring the best future for Chepstow and its area, we have arranged a special meeting in the Drill Hall on Monday 10th February 2025, at our usual time of 7 30 but with tea and coffee from 7 pm. We have invited local County Councillor Paul Griffiths, the Deputy Leader of Monmouthshire County Council and Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development to talk about the issues and priorities for the future of the area - The future development of Chepstow and Monmouthshire - the issues, the priorities, the Plan. Although the most recent public consultation period for the new Monmouthshire Local Plan has ended, the process for MCC and its elected members and officers to consider all the comments made, and how to take matters forward in the best interests of the town and whole county, is continuing As the Deputy Leader of the County Council, and Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, Paul Griffiths is in a unique position to speak on, and discuss, the formulation of the Plan, its implications for Chepstow, and its priorities as it goes through further stages of formulation. This special event will be FREE.
Since it was set up over 70 years ago, the Chepstow Society has been active in monitoring the changes taking place in the town, helping to protect what is valuable, and seeking improvements to the town’s environment.
We continue to carry out this vital function. The Society looks at current planning applications, and at policy documents on planning and amenity issues, and makes representations on issues as appropriate. We also have regular and frequent exchanges and meetings with local town and county councillors, and with other groups concerned about the future of the area.
